[Letters to William Fraigneau] 1751 August 15-October 31.

A series of letters from Henry St. John, Viscount Bolingbroke to William Fraigneau, Church of England clergyman and Cambridge professor, then the tutor to his nephew, Frederick St. John. The letters, all written in 1751, are mainly concerned with the younger St. John's dissolute nature and the problems related to his schooling at the Royal Academy in Caen. One letter also discusses Bolingbroke's ill health. One letter is written in French, which, Bolingbroke writes, will allow Fraigneau to share it more easily with the head of the Academy. This letter also has a contemporary English translation included.

4 letters ; 19.5-23 cm.
